Friends of Queens' Green aims to protect and enhance the green space known as Queens' Green.

The green is bounded by Queens' Road to the west, Silver Street to the South, Kings College to the North, and Queens' College to the east.

16 March 2022: Online Annual General Meeting. 

1 February 2021: Online Annual General Meeting. 

13 January 2020: Cambridge City Council Development Control Forum in response to a petition signed by numerous Friends and others to review the proposals to refurbish the Silver Street toilets. To the right is a PDF of the PowerPoint that FoQG committee members presented. Here is a link to the City Council's minutes of the meeting.

11th November 2019: AGM at Queens' College with speaker Hugh Johnson,

the eminent writer on trees and wine, a member of King's College and of the Backs Committee.

26 June 2019: Evening walkabout on Queens’ Green. Several Friends made very helpful suggestions for future speakers and advisers, for example on next steps with the ditch behind the college. Then we enjoyed a picnic on the Green, ahead of the thunder and rain forecast for later that evening. 

11 February 2019: Launch event at Queens' College with Guy Belcher, City Council Biodiversity Officer, who spoke about the biodiversity of the Cam river corridor and the scope to enhance the biodiversity of Queens' Green. More details in the PDF to the right.

GOVERNANCE

The Friends group is managed by executive committee comprised of students of Queens' College, and local townspeople, providing for as comprehensive an understanding of the different needs of the green as possible. Our Constitution is attached below as a PDF.

The management committee meets at least twice per year, and is accountable to the friends for management of the group's accounts and budget, the group's social activities, and the coordination of effective community action to further the group's core missions of protection and enhancement.
